Book News You Can Use 6/13/14


Elementary school was a long time ago.  But one of my favorite memories from those days was when Ruby Dee visited our school.  I don't remember what she was in Charleston for, but I remember her coming and it was a big deal.  That memory came back in my mind yesterday when I heard of her passing.  May Soror Ruby relax in paradise and be reunited with Ossie on the other side.

Warner Brothers is now the victim of Amazon's bullying tactics with their new DVD releases. It's almost the same thing they are doing to Hatchette.  Ironically, Hatchette used to be Warner Books.

A dumb principal in Florida decided to cancel the summer reading program at his high school because he didn't like what the selected book was about.  The author fights back and sends 200 copies to the school.

Kevin Kwan talks about the sequel to Crazy Rich Asians and plans for the screen adaptation.
