Front of the Shirt... And the back! Many librarians don't get to travel for their job unless it is for a library association conference.  Because the nature of my job, I get to travel to conferences all across the state of South Carolina to promote the health information website that I help maintain.  Last weekend, I went to a conference for preschool teachers that we thought we were going to talk to a lot of people, but we didn't.  But the plus side was that there was a guy who was selling shirts to the teachers. And he had this shirt. And I bought it.  He also told me that he sells Divine Nine shirts with occupations on them, so I hope he has a Delta Librarian shirt. My Friday Reads is Nikki Giovanni's new book, Chasing Utopia.  I am borrowing this book from a coworker and as always with Soror Nikki's work, I am really enjoying it.  What book do you plan to read this weekend? Relax in Paradise Alexandros Petersen . Last weekend there were memorial services for Wanda Coleman and  Amiri Baraka . Kenyan author Binyavagan Wainaian came out in a new essay , partly inspired by recent anti-gay legislation in Uganda and Nigeria. More Gone Girl Movie News: Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will score the film.   And the end was changed for the movie . Maybe _____ will get what's coming to him/her.

Relax in Paradise Juan Gelman . Congratulations to all of the Edgar Award nominees !  Glad to see that The Good Nurse was nominate for best Fact Crime Book! Nominees for the National Book Critics Circle Awards were also announced this week. A stamp honoring Ralph Ellison will be released later this year. Attica Locke will receive her Gaines Award next week . In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King's 85th Birthday, Pearl Cleage talks about meeting him and ways we can truly honor his legacy . Nakia at ZoraToniMaya has a list of 21 books that she plans to read this year. There will be a New York festival honoring the work of James Baldwin . The Millions created a list of the most anticipated releases of 2014.   So did Huffington Post . The only book I was interested in reading from USA Today's Winter Book Preview was Robin Roberts'. Here is a list of 16 books you need to read before their film adaptations are released this year .  The bad news is that Addicted wasn't on the list.  The good news is that 50 Shades isn't, either. Speaking of one of the books that will be adapted to a film this year, this magazine cover doesn't make any sense (for those who have read Gone Girl).
